Contests

Radio contests are one of the core parts of the radio hobby, some love them and some don’t. TDARS isn’t a contest club but has a selection of contest we enter each year for fun and to learn and try and do better than we have done before. Here are two we do take part in regularly

The RSGB VHF National Field day

We enter from the top of the Long Mynd and have a regular spot where permission was given to us to operate. We are scrupulous about making sure no litter, damage or fire risks occur any time we are up there – visitors are always welcome. We hope new members will come along for the fun and perhaps learn about operating a radio under pressure.

RSGB 6M Trophy

The return to the Long Mynd under the same agreement and operation to take part in an annual contest run by the RSGB – we enter in the spirit of the contest, have a good time and hope to see friends and new visitors to the station.
