Lily 2E0HPS and Charlotte active on the long Mynd
Charlotte sent notes and photo of a successful afternoon:
“I have been a member of TDARS now since August 2024, On 26th November I went with lily 2E0HPS to the Long Mynd and used 20m we tried SSB fairly unsuccessful then some contacts on FT8 which worked really well. We were using 10W using Xiegu X6100 with a handmade dipole.
Lily showed me how to safely install this even though it was chilly. Then to 2m (50W FM) using an antenna on the car and Lilys Yaesu FTM200DE worked
well hearing stations, but the last contact of the day was with Dave G0CER on 10m SSB 54 either way.
I really enjoyed this experience considering I don’t have a license yet and to be able to go out into the wilderness and hear so many people just blows my mind. I have some supervised contacts in lily’s log book which was a great success.
Just want to give a massive shout out to lily for helping, legally supervising me and allowing me to experience this. She got me out of my comfort zone to try new things and a big thank you to TDARS for welcoming me.”
“I’m looking forward when I get my own call sign to do the same and more experimenting—did anybody say ‘New years resolution?
